The Unsolved Economic Problems of the Italian Mezzogiorno

Join us for an open debate on the economic future of Southern Italy. Prof Giuseppe Coco (Former Chief of Technical Staff, Ministry of Territorial Cohesion and Southern Italy and Professor of Economics, University of Florence), Prof Luigi Guiso (AXA Professor of Household Finance, Einaudi Institute for Economics and Finance); Prof Pasquale Scaramozzino (Professor of Economics, School of Oriental and African Studies) and Dr Paolo Veneri (Head of Regional Analysis and Statistics Unit in the OECD Centre for Entrepreneurship, SMEs, Regions and Cities) will discuss the unsolved economic problems of the Italian Mezzogiorno in the broader national and European context, comparing scholarly and policy perspectives. The event is chaired by Prof Riccardo Crescenzi (Professor of Economic Geography - LSE ) and moderated by Alessandro Barbera (La Stampa).
